Pilbara Minerals is pleased to once again be providing books to the children at Yandeyarra Remote Community School as part of the Books in Schools program.
The program aims to create a love for reading, by supplying books for students and learning activities to build literacy skills. Reading is critical to improving imagination, building vocabulary and increasing concentration.
Pilbara Minerals HST Manager Ryan Misztal, and colleagues, Amy Preston and Ryan Donegan, were pleased to attend the Book Giving Assembly in Term 1.
“It was a great opportunity to present the students with their book bags and connect with the wider school community at the BBQ afterwards,” Ryan said.
“We hope that our visit encouraged the students to get excited about and enjoy reading.”
Following the assembly and community BBQ, the Pilbara Minerals representatives led an art session, with the children hand printing the heritage pole markers. The poles will be used in the field around the Pilgangoora Project to mark and protect heritage sites.
We look forward to the continued partnership with Books in Schools at Yandeyarrra Remote Community School and making a positive impact to the students future learning.
