A responsible and ethical operation underpinning long term success

Responsible and ethical actions

We are committed to the responsible, ethical and conflict-free production of minerals and sourcing of goods and services within its supply chain.

At Pilbara Minerals, we uphold a strong and ongoing commitment to respecting all individual’s human rights – the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery, freedom of opinion, the right to work and to an education without discrimination as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This commitment lies at the heart of our purpose to make a difference in the world.

We commit to operating ethically and engaging appropriately with all stakeholders, particularly the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work.

Modern slavery

We recognise the urgent challenge of combatting modern slavery in today’s world. Operating and procuring goods and services ethically is not only a socially responsible business practice, but also a regulatory requirement under the Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act 2018.

The annual release of our Modern Slavery Statement outlines our ongoing efforts and continued focus on strengthening and embedding processes into our business to identify, respond to, and reduce risks of modern slavery throughout our supply chains.

We recognise we have a role to play in exposing and eliminating modern slavery practices, which include slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced or compulsory labour. For Pilbara Minerals, procuring goods and services ethically is not only a socially responsible business practice, but also a regulatory requirement under the Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Act).

Pilbara Minerals’ Modern Slavery Statements are supported by the Company’s Modern Slavery Policy and Human Rights Policy. These policies interface with all Pilbara Minerals’ policies, including our Code of Conduct.

To support the identification of potential high exposure regions/products as part of our commitment to respecting human rights, we conduct a risk assessment before the engagement of a supplier. Read more about Pilbara Minerals’ supplier onboarding and stages of modern slavery review.

Encouraging our people and stakeholders to speak up

We have a number of avenues for internal and external stakeholders to lodge a grievance.

For example, the Stakeholder Grievance Procedure ensures grievances are heard, investigated and responded to by the Company within an appropriate timeframe, while also enabling anonymity.

In addition, Pilbara Minerals uses an independent tool called Whispli which creates a safe space for anyone to report issues that constitute as reportable conduct under the Whistleblower Policy. This online tool allows people to speak up anonymously at anytime to report issues they believe involve criminal, inappropriate or unprofessional behaviour. Issues submitted through Whispli are assigned a case manager and investigated.
