On Wednesday 8 March, Pilbara Minerals celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) with events on site and in our Perth office to acknowledge the important role women play in our business.
In honour of the 2023 IWD theme, #EmbraceEquity, Pilbara Minerals board members Miriam Stanborough and Sally-Anne Layman spoke to our teams in Perth and on site.
Miriam shared her thoughts on gender equity versus equality and the allies that helped her forge a successful career in traditionally male-dominated industries. It was followed by group discussions about improving gender parity within our Pilbara Minerals team.
On site, the team heard from Sally-Anne and enjoyed a clay making workshop, which attendees said generated productive discussion in a casual and creative setting.
At Pilbara Minerals we are committed to equality and equity in the workplace. We are proud to have implemented several initiatives to support the women in our team, including the “Stand Up- Unmute Yourself” campaign, participation in the Women in Mining WA events and, mentoring program, supporting the “Girl’s in Engineering Tomorrow” program and holding regular Women’s Networking events on site, which will soon be extended to Perth.
Continuous improvement is a priority for Pilbara Minerals, ensuring progress is not limited to IWD alone.
