Pilbara Minerals Makes a Difference through new Community Grants Program

6 December 2023

Twelve community programs and projects aimed at enhancing education and community resilience in the Pilbara have received a funding boost through Pilbara Minerals’ annual Community Grants Program (the Program).

The Program is part of Pilbara Minerals’ commitment to making a difference in the world by supporting grass roots community initiatives. In total, the first round of Pilbara Minerals’ inaugural Program has awarded more than $100,000 in funding.

This funding will support initiatives such as new infrastructure and learning programs at Port Hedland primary and secondary schools, a youth mindfulness program, and delivery of a project that captures the stories and language of Aboriginal Elders in Port Hedland.

Pilbara Minerals is pleased to award grants to the following successful applicants:

  • Julyardi Aboriginal Corporation – Hedland Aboriginal Strong Leaders – Their Stories
  • Youth Involvement Council – Mindfulness Program
  • Port Hedland Primary School – Signage
  • South Hedland Primary School – Project-based STEM
  • Baler Primary School – Elastik Digital Platform
  • Hedland Senior High School – Homework Club
  • RAWA Indigenous Community School – Skill Development Program
  • Hedland Junior Soccer Association – Uniforms
  • Pilbara Aboriginal Health Service – Community BBQ Trailer
  • Diabetes WA – Portable Point of Care Testing
  • Cystic Fibrosis WA – Chronic Wet Cough Outreach Education
  • Relationships Australia – Mooditj Training

Pilbara Minerals’ Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dale Henderson said he was impressed with the amount of interest the Program attracted in its first year and the quality of the applications received.

“We are proud to be supporting such important projects and initiatives. There are some great organisations doing valuable work in the region and it was a challenging process to select the successful applicants.

“We hope the support of Pilbara Minerals will contribute to the social and economic prosperity of the communities in which we operate, and we look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with the Pilbara community through this program and other future community initiatives,” he said.

The Pilbara Minerals Community Grants Program is an annual initiative open to community organisations to apply for a funding of up to $10,000.
