Invitation for public comment

Pilbara Minerals is inviting public comment on a proposal to develop the Lynas Find Project (EPBC 2023/09471).

The project involves the development of a small open pit mining operation consisting of an open pit, waste rock landform and supporting infrastructure approximately 80 km SSE of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The Proposed Action is a ‘controlled action’ under the EPBC Act and is being assessed through Preliminary Documentation. The relevant controlling provisions under Part 3 of the Act are sections 18 and 18A (Listed threatened species and communities).

In accordance with Section 95A(3) of the EPBC Act, the draft Preliminary Documentation for the Proposed Action will be available for viewing and public comment from Wednesday 14 August 2024 to the 11 September 2024. The relevant documentation is available to download below. Hard copies will be available to view at the Port Hedland, South Hedland and WA State libraries, and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

Interested persons and organisations are invited to comment in writing on the draft Preliminary Documentation by the 11 September 2024. Written submissions can be posted to Pilbara Minerals at PO Box 884, West Perth WA 6872, or emailed to admin@pilbaraminerals.com.au.
